Purvanchal Seva Sangam ends on positive note

Purvanchal Seva Sangam 2013Guwahati, March 02: A congregation of service organizations active in the sensitive state of Assam in northeast India concluded here recently on a very positive note. Over 50 such organizations participated in this conference called ‘Purvanchal Seva Sangam’ which was held from February 23-24, 2013. The event was inaugurated by in charge of the north east region of Bharat Sewashram Sangh Swami Sadhananda by lighting the traditional lamp on the first day.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion Swami Sadhananda exhorted the people to render selfless service to the needy and neglected sections of the society. We must work in tandem with each other so that better service could be provided to those who need to be brought up at par with rest of the society, the Swami said.

Purvanchal Seva Sangam 2013Gurusharan Prasad, national co-convener of Rashtriya Seva Bharati under whose auspices this seva sangam was organized, dwelt on the role of Sewa Bharati and the concept of seva provided by the Rashtirya Seva Bharati.

A book titled ‘Arogya Mitra Curriculum, written by Dr Dilip Sarkar under ‘Arogya Mitra Scheme’ was released at the hands of venerated Swami Sadhananda on this occasion. Dr Sarkar inaugurated the exhibition of seva activities undertaken by the participating agencies in various fields of social life in Assam.

Discussions were held on various aspects of seva with the participating delegates of different seva organizations presenting and sharing their experiences with each other.

The valedictory function of the event was held on February 24. Pramod Prakash Shrivastava, IPS (retd) and presently representative of the Government of India on the North East Council was the special guest on this occasion while Abani Das, Dean of Guwahati College of Architecture and Pankaj Bora, Secretary of NGO Association of Assam were present on the occasion.

Akhil  Bharatiya Seva Pramukh of RSS Suhas Hiremath delivering the valedictory address emphasized on real meaning of seva and the objective to be achieved through these seva activities. He stressed on the need for providing service to the needy without favor or fear and in a selfless manner.

The organizations and individuals engaged in service activities in their respective regions were felicitated on this occasion with a memento and a tradition sarai and gomocha.

The proceedings of this two-day program were conducted by Pankaj Jalan while Jyotirmay Purkayastha welcomed the delegates and guests. RSS Zonal Pracharak Ulhas Kulkarni, Sanghchalak of North Assam Dr Umesh Chakravarty were prominently present on the occasion.
